The Emerald Studio was founded as a creative collective in October 2014. While our staff is small, our network is mighty. In house, we provide interior design, event design and brand collaboration services. Our friends are artists, brand developers, graphic designers, and other artisans with amazing skill sets, and we love to include them in our design projects.
Our style is what we call 'West Coast Refined' but we don't really like definitions. We'll throw together a farmhouse table with ghost chairs, or upholster a mid-century modern sofa in a classic chintz. There are no design rules here, except to create a cohesive home that truly reflects the personality of our clients with pieces they absolutely love. We source globally and locally to create an eclectic, worldly mix, and strive for fresh, inviting style whether it's a table we're setting, a home we're designing or a set we're styling. We can't wait to work with you.
Cassandra LaValle is the Founder of the celebrated lifestyle blog coco+kelley and the Creative Director at The Emerald Studio.
From a young age Cassandra practiced her redecorating skills, insisting her bedroom walls be painted the perfect shade of lilac at the age of 12, and taking interior design as early as high school. But it wasn't until readers at coco+kelley began clamoring for her advice that Cassandra put her keen eye for styling to use in the interiors world.
After graduating from Gonzaga University, Cassandra spent her early career years as an event designer, putting together tabletops for clients large and small, as well as creating editorials for local magazines. When she tired of the event world, Cassandra moved on to merchandising at boutique furniture stores and setting displays at Anthropologie.
In 2007, Cassandra founded coco+kelley where her passion for interiors intersected with her experience in events, and her love for entertaining. Since 2008 she has worked with numerous national brands to create sponsored content for coco+kelley, and has brought those skills here to The Emerald Studio, offering brand styling and collaboration opportunities away from the blog for the likes of Starbucks and Crate & Barrel.
Today, Cassandra combines her experience and passion in the interior, event and styling worlds to provide creative direction in each of these areas here at The Emerald Studio.
Sara Knowles is the Lead Designer at The Emerald Studio and brings with her skills as an interior designer, organizer and stylist.
Her style is fresh and colorful, and heavily inspired by the natural world and her upbringing in Alaska. She enjoys combining new pieces with vintage finds to create intimate, personal spaces and gatherings. Prior to moving to Seattle and pursuing independent design work, Sara worked as a buyer at a vintage furniture store in Washington, DC, where she perfected her passion for treasure hunting and curating. She is a nut for order and loves setting up systems of organization so that spaces can be enjoyed more fully.
